
Wonton Soup (馄饨汤)
Delicate wontons filled with pork and shrimp served in a flavorful broth with vegetables.
Ingredients
- 24 wonton wrappers
- 1 cup ground pork
- 1 cup shrimp
- 6 cups chicken broth
- 2 cups bok choy
- 1 tablespoon ginger
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon sesame oil
- 2 stalks green onions
- 1 teaspoon white pepper

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of ground pork, 1 cup of chopped shrimp, 1 tablespoon of minced ginger, 2 cloves of minced garlic, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 1 teaspoon of sesame oil, and 1 teaspoon of white pepper. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly combined.

Take a wonton wrapper and place a teaspoon of the filling mixture in the center. Moisten the edges of the wrapper with water, fold it in half to form a triangle, and press to seal. Then, bring the two corners of the triangle together and seal them with a bit of water. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling (about 24 wontons).

In a large pot, bring 6 cups of chicken broth to a boil over medium-high heat.

Once the broth is boiling, gently add the prepared wontons to the pot. Reduce the heat to medium and let the wontons cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface and are cooked through.

Add 2 cups of chopped bok choy to the pot and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the bok choy is tender.

Taste the broth and adjust seasoning if necessary. You can add more soy sauce or white pepper according to your preference.

Ladle the soup into bowls, making sure to include wontons and bok choy. Garnish with chopped green onions before serving.
