
Smoked Sausage and Sauerkraut
Savory smoked sausage served with tangy sauerkraut, a classic pairing in smokehouse cuisine.
Ingredients
- 1 pound smoked sausage
- 1 jar sauerkraut
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 cup chicken broth
- 2 tablespoons apple cider vinegar
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley

Slice the smoked sausage into 1/2-inch thick rounds.

Chop the onion and mince the garlic cloves.

In a large skillet, heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat (about 350°F).

Add the sliced sausage to the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until browned.

Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for another 3-4 minutes until the onion is translucent.

Stir in the sauerkraut, caraway seeds, black pepper, chicken broth, and apple cider vinegar.

Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce heat to low. Cover and let it cook for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
