Hearty smoked meatballs served in a sub with marinara sauce and melted cheese, perfect for a satisfying lunch.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 cup bread crumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 cups marinara sauce
  • 4 pieces sub rolls
  • 1 cup mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tablespoon parsley
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese

    Preheat your smoker to 250°F (121°C).

    In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef, 1 cup of bread crumbs, 1 large egg, 1 teaspoon of smoked paprika, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, 1 teaspoon of onion powder, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper. Mix until well combined.

    Form the mixture into 12 equal-sized meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.

    Place the meatballs in the smoker and cook for about 1 hour, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

    While the meatballs are smoking, heat 2 cups of marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.

    Once the meatballs are done, remove them from the smoker and let them rest for 5 minutes.

    Slice the sub rolls lengthwise but not all the way through, creating a pocket for the meatballs.

    In each sub roll, place 3 meatballs and spoon marinara sauce over the top until generously covered.

    Sprinkle 1 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese and 1 cup of grated Parmesan cheese over the meatballs and sauce.

    Preheat your oven to broil. Place the subs on a baking sheet and broil for 2-3 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
