
Smoked Bratwurst with Sauerkraut
Juicy smoked bratwurst served with tangy sauerkraut and mustard for a hearty meal.
Ingredients
- 4 links bratwurst
- 2 cups sauerkraut
- 1 cup mustard
- 1 medium onions
- 1 cup beer
- 1 teaspoon caraway seeds
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley

Preheat your smoker to 225°F (107°C).

In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Once hot, add 1 medium chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

Add 2 cups of sauerkraut, 1 cup of beer, 1 teaspoon of caraway seeds, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 1 teaspoon of black pepper to the skillet. Stir to combine and let simmer for 10 minutes.

While the sauerkraut is simmering, place the bratwurst links directly on the smoker rack. Smoke the bratwurst for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until they reach an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).

Once the bratwurst are done, remove them from the smoker and let them rest for 5 minutes.

Serve the bratwurst on a plate with a generous scoop of sauerkraut on the side. Drizzle with mustard and garnish with 2 tablespoons of chopped fresh parsley.
