Ingredients
- 2 teaspoons active dry yeast
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk
- 1 stick unsalted butter
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 large egg
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

In a small bowl, combine 2 teaspoons of active dry yeast with 1/4 cup of warm milk (about 110°F) and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes until frothy.

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together 4 cups of all-purpose flour, 1 cup of granulated sugar, 1 teaspoon of salt, and 2 teaspoons of ground cinnamon.

In a small saucepan, heat 3/4 cup of whole milk and 1 stick of unsalted butter over low heat until the butter melts. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

Add the yeast mixture and the milk-butter mixture to the flour mixture. Add 1 large egg and mix until a dough forms.

Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

After the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thickness.

Spread melted butter on top (about 2 tablespoons), then sprinkle with a mixture of 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1 tablespoon of ground cinnamon.

Roll the dough tightly into a log and cut it into 12 equal pieces. Place the pieces in a greased baking dish.

Cover the baking dish with a cloth and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.

While the rolls are baking, prepare the icing by mixing 1 cup of powdered sugar with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract and enough milk to reach your desired consistency.
