Schnäbelchen mit Marmelade
Traditional German pastry filled with fruit jam, perfect for a sweet breakfast treat.
Ingredients
- 1 pound pastry dough
- 1 cup fruit jam (e.g., raspberry or apricot)
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

In a large mixing bowl, combine the pastry dough and flour, mixing until well combined.

On a floured surface, roll out the pastry dough to about 1/8 inch thick.

Using a sharp knife or pastry cutter, cut the dough into triangles, approximately 4 inches wide.

Place a tablespoon of fruit jam in the center of each triangle.

Fold the dough over the jam to form a triangle shape and pinch the edges to seal tightly.

In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the top of each pastry for a golden finish.

Sprinkle the granulated sugar over the pastries for added sweetness.

Place the pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
