Savory Grilled Tofu with Garlic and Herbs
Deliciously marinated tofu grilled to perfection, served with a tangy herb sauce, perfect for a summer dinner.
Ingredients
- 14 oz firm tofu
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic
- 1 cup fresh parsley
- 1 cup fresh basil
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp black pepper
- 1 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp water

Press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top for 15-20 minutes.

In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil, minced garlic (from 4 cloves), lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to create the marinade.

Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch thick slices and place them in a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the tofu, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.

While the tofu is marinating, prepare the herb sauce. In a blender, combine fresh parsley, fresh basil, remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, water, and a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth and adjust seasoning to taste. Set aside.

Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F).

Once the grill is hot, lightly oil the grill grates to prevent sticking. Place the marinated tofu slices on the grill and cook for 5-7 minutes on each side, or until grill marks appear and the tofu is heated through.

Remove the grilled tofu from the grill and let it rest for 2-3 minutes.
