Ingredients

  • 14 oz firm tofu
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 4 cloves garlic
  • 1 cup fresh parsley
  • 1 cup fresh basil
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp water

    Press the tofu to remove excess moisture. Wrap the tofu block in a clean kitchen towel and place a heavy object on top for 15-20 minutes.

    In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons of olive oil, minced garlic (from 4 cloves), lemon juice, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes to create the marinade.

    Cut the pressed tofu into 1-inch thick slices and place them in a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the tofu, ensuring each piece is well coated. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or up to 2 hours for more flavor.

    While the tofu is marinating, prepare the herb sauce. In a blender, combine fresh parsley, fresh basil, remaining 1 tablespoon of olive oil, balsamic vinegar, water, and a pinch of salt. Blend until smooth and adjust seasoning to taste. Set aside.

    Preheat the grill to medium-high heat (about 400°F).
