
Roast Turkey with Sage Butter
A succulent roast turkey infused with sage butter, perfect for holiday gatherings and family dinners.
Ingredients
- 12 pounds whole turkey
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup fresh sage leaves
- 4 cloves garlic cloves
- 1 whole lemon
- 2 tablespoons salt
- 1 tablespoon black pepper
- 1 whole onion
- 2 medium carrots
- 2 whole celery stalks
- 2 cups chicken broth

Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).

In a small saucepan, melt the unsalted butter over low heat.

Add the chopped fresh sage leaves and minced garlic to the melted butter. Stir and cook for about 2 minutes until fragrant.

Remove the saucepan from heat and let the sage butter cool slightly.

Pat the whole turkey dry with paper towels. Season the inside of the turkey cavity with 1 tablespoon of salt and 1 teaspoon of black pepper.

Stuff the cavity with the whole onion, halved lemon, and carrots.

Using a brush or your hands, rub the sage butter all over the turkey, including under the skin for extra flavor.

Sprinkle the remaining salt and pepper evenly over the outside of the turkey.

Place the turkey on a roasting rack in a large roasting pan. Pour the chicken broth into the bottom of the pan.

Roast the turkey in the preheated oven for approximately 13-15 minutes per pound, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C) in the thickest part of the thigh.

Baste the turkey every 30 minutes with the pan juices to keep it moist.

Once cooked, remove the turkey from the oven and let it rest for at least 20-30 minutes before carving.
