Instructions
- 1
Prepare the apple sauce: Peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces.
- 2
In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped apples, 1 cup of water, 1 cup of brown sugar, and 1 teaspoon of cinnamon. Bring to a boil over medium heat.
- 3
Once boiling, reduce heat to low and let simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are soft.
- 4
While the apples are cooking, season the pork chops generously with salt and pepper on both sides.
- 5
In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.
- 6
Add the pork chops to the skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until they reach an internal temperature of 145°F (63°C).
- 7
Once cooked, remove the pork chops from the skillet and let them rest for 5 minutes.
- 8
After the apple sauce has simmered, use a potato masher or fork to mash the apples to your desired consistency. Stir in 1 tablespoon of lemon juice and set aside.
- 9
Serve the pork chops topped with the homemade apple sauce and enjoy your meal!
