Pfannkuchen mit Marmelade
Traditional German pancakes served with a generous spread of fruit jam, a sweet breakfast treat.
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 cup fruit jam (your choice)
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for dusting)

In a large mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1 tablespoon of sugar, and a pinch of salt. Whisk together until well mixed.

In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 large eggs, 1 cup of milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until smooth.

Gradually pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Let the batter rest for 10 minutes.

Heat a non-stick skillet or frying pan over medium heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter and allow it to melt, coating the pan.

Pour about 1/4 cup of batter into the skillet for each pancake. Cook for 2-3 minutes until bubbles form on the surface and the edges look set.

Flip the pancake and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side until golden brown. Repeat with the remaining batter, adding more butter as needed.

Serve the pancakes warm, spread with your choice of fruit jam, and dust with powdered sugar if desired.
