Instructions
- 1
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
- 2
In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, black pepper, and mustard powder to create a dry rub.
- 3
Remove the silver skin from the back of the pork ribs for better flavor absorption.
- 4
Rub the dry mixture generously over both sides of the pork ribs.
- 5
Place the ribs on a baking sheet lined with aluminum foil and cover them tightly with another piece of foil.
- 6
Bake the ribs in the preheated oven for 2.5 to 3 hours, until they are tender.
- 7
While the ribs are baking, prepare the barbecue sauce. In a medium saucepan, combine the tomato paste, apple cider vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, water, apple juice, honey, and liquid smoke.
- 8
Bring the sauce to a simmer over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Let it simmer for about 20 minutes to thicken.
- 9
Once the ribs are done baking, remove them from the oven and increase the oven temperature to 400°F (200°C).
- 10
Brush a generous amount of the barbecue sauce over the ribs.
- 11
Return the ribs to the oven, uncovered, and bake for an additional 20-30 minutes, basting with more sauce halfway through.
- 12
Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for 10 minutes before slicing.
- 13
Serve the ribs with extra barbecue sauce on the side and enjoy!
