A classic fish sandwich topped with tangy remoulade, popular in northern Germany. Perfect for a hearty breakfast!

Ingredients

  • 2 pieces fish fillet
  • 2 pieces rolls
  • 4 tablespoons remoulade
  • 2 leaves lettuce
  • 1 small onion
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 slice lemon
  • 1 tablespoon capers

Instructions

    Preheat a skillet over medium heat for about 5 minutes.

    Season the fish fillets with salt and black pepper on both sides.

    Add olive oil to the preheated skillet. Once hot, place the fish fillets in the skillet.

    Cook the fish for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

    While the fish is cooking, slice the onion thinly.

    Once the fish is cooked, remove it from the skillet and let it rest for a minute.

    Cut the rolls in half and toast them lightly in the skillet for 1-2 minutes, cut side down.

    Spread 2 tablespoons of remoulade on the bottom half of each roll.

    Place a lettuce leaf on top of the remoulade.

    Add a cooked fish fillet on top of the lettuce.

    Top the fish with sliced onions and a sprinkle of capers.

    Finish with a slice of lemon on top and cover with the top half of the roll.
