
Classic Meatloaf with Glaze
A hearty meatloaf made with ground beef and topped with a tangy glaze, served with mashed potatoes.
Ingredients
- 2 pounds ground beef
- 1 cup bread crumbs
- 1 large egg
- 1 medium onion
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 quarter cup milk
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 2 pounds potatoes
- 4 tablespoons butter
- 1 quarter cup milk

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

In a large mixing bowl, combine 2 pounds of ground beef, 1 cup of bread crumbs, 1 finely chopped medium onion, 1 large egg, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, 1 teaspoon of garlic powder, and 1/4 cup of milk. Mix until all ingredients are well combined.

Transfer the meat mixture into a loaf pan and shape it into a loaf.

In a small bowl, mix together 1 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, 2 tablespoons of brown sugar, and 1 tablespoon of mustard to create the glaze.

Spread half of the glaze mixture over the top of the meatloaf.

Bake the meatloaf in the preheated oven for 1 hour.

After 1 hour, remove the meatloaf from the oven and spread the remaining glaze on top. Return to the oven and bake for an additional 15 minutes.

While the meatloaf is baking, peel and chop 2 pounds of potatoes. Boil them in salted water for about 15-20 minutes or until fork-tender.

Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Add 4 tablespoons of butter and 1/4 cup of milk. Mash until smooth and creamy.

Once the meatloaf is done, let it rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve with mashed potatoes on the side.
