
Canelones Rellenos de Carne
Pasta tubes filled with a savory meat mixture, baked in a rich tomato sauce.
Ingredients
- 12 pieces canelones
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 cups tomato sauce
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 tablespoon fresh basil

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

Add 1 medium chopped onion and 2 minced garlic cloves. Sauté for about 5 minutes until the onion is translucent.

Add 1 pound of ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat.

Stir in 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of dried oregano. Mix well.

Remove the skillet from heat and let the filling cool slightly.

In a baking dish, spread 1 cup of tomato sauce evenly on the bottom.

Stuff each of the 12 canelones with the meat mixture and place them in the baking dish.

Pour the remaining 1 cup of tomato sauce over the stuffed canelones.

Sprinkle 1 cup of mozzarella cheese and 1 cup of Parmesan cheese evenly on top.

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes.

Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes.

Garnish with 1 tablespoon of fresh basil before serving.
