  • 1 loaf brioche dough
  • 8 ounces dark chocolate
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar

    Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

    Prepare the brioche dough by rolling it out into a rectangle on a lightly floured surface, approximately 1/2 inch thick.

    Chop the dark chocolate into small pieces and spread them evenly over the surface of the rolled-out brioche dough.

    Starting from one edge, carefully roll the dough tightly into a log shape, encasing the chocolate pieces.

    Pinch the edges to seal the log and place it seam-side down on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

    In a small bowl, whisk together the egg and 1 tablespoon of water to create an egg wash. Brush the top of the brioche log with the egg wash.

    Bake the brioche in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and cooked through.

    While the brioche is baking, prepare the chocolate sauce. In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream and butter. Stir until the butter is melted and the mixture is heated through.

    Remove the saucepan from heat and add the chopped dark chocolate and vanilla extract. Stir until the chocolate is completely melted and the sauce is smooth.

    Once the brioche is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool slightly before slicing.

    Serve the sliced brioche au chocolat warm with the chocolate sauce drizzled over or on the side for dipping. Sprinkle powdered sugar on top for garnish, if desired.
